A Message from Our Superintendent

Greetings East Orange School District Family,

Congratulations, team! We finally crossed the finish line for the 2016-2017 school year. We never could have made it without you. Your commitment, dedication, and hard work will undoubtedly pay off and certainly benefit our students and the East Orange School District.

It is with great ebullience that I take this opportunity to personally thank each and every one of you who helped make this 2016-2017 school year a productive, meaningful, and successful one. Your willingness to go the extra mile, determination to challenge our students with rigor, creativity to think outside the box, persistence with preparing our students for PARCC and numerous other assessments, and your ability to build strong/productive working relationships with our students and their families is a true testament of your commitment to helping move this school district forward in a positive direction. Thank you!

I know that this was a challenging school year (especially with the budget cuts and layoffs) that required all of us to do more by raising the bar for our students and ourselves. However, we are definitely going to make a significant difference here in East Orange as we work together in a collaborative and collegial manner striving to move our schools from good to great. Because of you, we will meet the challenges of the common core standards, PARCC assessments, and other demanding educational initiatives and best practices.

I believe in the quote, “For of those to whom much is given, much is required.” Great schools have great people willing to go above and beyond. As educators and public employees working in schools, we must all be mindful that there are always possibilities to explore, new ways to grow, and new challenges to experience. With each new day, the East Orange School District is filled with fresh opportunities for us to be the best that we can and offer the best we have to our students. Our actions have the power to dramatically transform this school district and the world. To all of you who worked smart and hard for our children this school year, thank you so much not only on my behalf, but also on behalf of the East Orange Board of Education.

Although I’ve only been your superintendent of schools for less than seven months, it has been a distinct pleasure working with you and the students of East Orange. I appreciate and wish you and your family a safe, relaxing, and enjoyable summer vacation. Get plenty of rest so that we can forge ahead with a renewed and rejuvenated spirit of “excellence” on our journey to continuous improvement during the 2017-2018 school year. The best is yet to come! Mission Possible! Yes, We Can!
