East Orange School District is proud to announce that Mrs. Theresa Maughan, a Social Studies teacher at East Orange STEM Academy in East Orange, New Jersey was honored today Wednesday, October 6, 2021, as the 2021-2022 New Jersey State Teacher of the Year. In August, Mrs. Maughan was named the 2021-2022 Essex County Teacher of the Year. Additionally, in June 2021, Mrs. Maughan was selected as a finalist for the Patricia Behring Teacher of the Year award in the senior division of the National History Day (NHD) National Contest. The award is sponsored by Patricia Behring in recognition of the pivotal role teachers play in the lives of young scholars. Mrs. Maughan is a master teacher, and the East Orange School District is proud and honored to acknowledge such an exceptional educator!!!!!
