Whitney E. Houston Academy (Open now thru January 16, 2026)

Each scholar at Whitney E. Houston Academy of Creative and Performing Arts enjoys the luxury of a low student-teacher ratio. Our intimate population not only enhances the quality of education scholars receive, it promotes a family oriented academic environment for young students to learn.
Our dedicated and supportive staff has been overwhelmingly successful in transitioning young scholars who go on to excel in high school and college and become active participants in their communities. To top the academic cake, Houston Academy’s 6th- 8th grade performing arts program produces excellently talented scholars. Our connection to the Montclair State Performing Arts Program and NJPAC gives students the opportunity to explore what life in the arts could potentially be for them beyond middle school. Scholars take part in experiencing the arts on an even larger scale, with trips to New York City plays and museums as well as visits from professional performers. Additionally, in our efforts to align with community outreach initiatives, scholars have numerous opportunities to showcase their talents at various East Orange community events. Whitney E. Houston Academy’s Dance & Instrumental Music students make up an integral part of the East Orange School District’s Marching Band.
