The East Orange School District proudly joined communities nationwide in celebrating Lights On Afterschool, a national event that shines a spotlight on the power of quality afterschool programs.
This year’s celebration was extra special as it honored the incredible success and impact of The PATH Afterschool Program, which continues to empower students across the district through innovation, creativity, and hands-on learning.
PATH has helped scholars grow in confidence, teamwork, and problem-solving. Families, educators, and community leaders came together to celebrate our scholars’ achievements and the staff who make this life-changing program possible.
A highlight of the event came when Assemblyman Michael Venezia presented a Joint Legislative Commendation recognizing The PATH Program for its outstanding work in expanding learning opportunities, engaging families, and inspiring the next generation through hands-on STEM learning.
“Afterschool programs like PATH are where students discover their spark,” said Dr. Dawn Stokes-Tyler, Supervisor of Staff Development and Career & Technical Education. “They provide a space for curiosity, creativity, and confidence to grow—all while showing our scholars that learning doesn’t stop when the school day ends.”
The PATH Program continues to shine as a model of what’s possible when students, families, educators, and the community come together to support learning beyond the classroom.
Here’s to keeping the Lights On for learning, discovery, and opportunity in East Orange!
