so good evening parents Welcome to our parent information session my name is Dr Deborah Harvest and I'm one of the assistant superintendents here on the east or west is my pleasure to bring this presentation to you at this time we are ready to kick off I cannot believe fit the 2020 to 2023 school year all of our students fifth grade and who are presently in 8th grade have the opportunity to audition or apply to Suffern School the purpose of our presentation this evening is to give you just a little girl into the school and to begin the official rollout for the process so without any further adue with a chart that is off with our principal and vice principal of Truth Middle School Wichita comprehensive comprehensive fifth grade school we're going to tell you a little bit about their program so let me turn it over to miss love it and Miss Washington thank you. The Harvest good evening parents and Guardians I'm mrs. Lovett principal Sojourner Truth middle school and here with me on the webinar is Miss Washington the assistant principal it's the pleasure to have the opportunity to share a little bit about middle school with you I'm as we stated truth is a comprehensive 6th grade middle school where one of the three middle schools in the heart complex receive students from the very best elementary schools in the district and have no app patient required to be a truth Eco so please watch this brief video compilation to introduce you to our school and somebody in becoming part of the truth family the 2020 to 2023 school year with middle school will offer an opportunity to develop its leaders from any of the dishes this will be an extension to The Leader in Me program that they are already familiar with Tristan's will also opportunity to be exposed to introductory courses between Heelys and costly CTE programs let's hear more from our current staff and students about what our school has to offer you during your child 6th grade year secure Merchants Middle School strive to prepare each of our Scholars for high school college and Beyond we aspire to be the educational model of Excellence for middle schools in the state of Jersey by developing respectful responsible honest and resilience collars we plan to increase student achievement by promoting positive relationships and socio-emotional development ensuring that Implement 21st century learning skills effectively as a future ready school and utilizing response and instructional strategies that are engaging rigorous and relevant Middle School to come every day I'm only able to use their creative and their knowledge to figure out College I mean Century excited about going to college and no no their father having a growth mindset is what you is when you playing too to see not to feel mean greetings my name is with Washington and I'm the system principal here after hearing the truth Middle School your  is going to be off a few extracurricular activities that may interest you have our squad or Art Club girls who code club we have student council and for those who like the music we have to acquire and the Heart complex B at the end of the year we offered three big events build a sixth grade social and I wouldn't now quit this are we still are experiencing the covid-19 pandemic is that next year we can increase our social activities have more field trips and more I think you supposed to do 2223 school year Grant High School auditorium everything how do you find them okay College flags are there to help improve poop make sure they have it Naviance is pretty much a website that we do to help us The Wiz. We can achieve our goals and take that we need like respect responsibility and we have scrimmage technology music I think one of my favorite things I like to do as a Johnson Middle School is go to technology I like technology because you wouldn't eat it okay sitting out there today I'm going to didn't come to make the plans are you better Hello Kitty Eagles and true family on Amazon and go to specialist what is prepare for high school college and Beyond so we focus on instructional academic part but we also focus on the culture and climate of the school he want to make sure that students feel safe and welcome when they're here at you one way is by focusing on our core value a respectful responsible and showing Integrity which books has a positive behavior getting help to make students and staff still safe emotionally physically and socially also we have the leader and me programs at school and youth leadership development want to make sure that students can learn their pesto I'm out of that everyday go to use ClassDojo we use it so that students can use those points for activities and we also used as a means of communication to Karen weather is. message or to post things about asking to meet with him to school so we we are a lot of what activities just want to make sure that we have a sweet spirit it's just the host of activities that are student council help to put together as well as help and finally every month we have a family we meet talk about schools and we have last game celebrate birthday that honor roll and student of the month again we just try our best to make things positive and gauging and Walkman and multiple a state or the eagle. The apartments for the opportunity to speak okay thank you and we're going to move on and parents willing to let you know how you can apply to these School the official process will begin tomorrow what most of the school leaders will having information other than website some of them would share it with you now it's about a two to three month process so this is just the beginning to give you a glimpse of what's going on in each of the school and at this I'm going to turn it over to one of our high school principal mr. Worley who was the principal of will again one of our Comprehensive High School and the home of our state champion football team take it away mr. Worley good evening everyone. Thanks. Worley principal here East Orange Campus High School and also on the line we have assistant principal jobs to paint a present I miss Gray we also have our Jaguar Den one member of our PT program is to Thomas present weapon on Campus High School goes our soldiers are the district. I hear these North Campus we are the Comprehensive High School for East Orange read approximately 1700 students and a number of programs that we offer from a ZTE Pro AP honors program that we have here and a whole host of our diverse clubs and other activities for students to participate in including our athletic department going to turn the floor with the Phoenix for our presentation with regards to our what we offer here at East Orange Campus High School peace good day family parents and students I miss the worldly principal here East Orange Campus High School where I vision is cultivating Jaguars with phenomenal will and skill and our mission here is for our Scholars I was student our faculty and staff to be a part of the transformation of the East Orange School District in the city of East Orange why what happened here at East Orange Campus High School so I'm excited I'm here to talk to you about CTE program here at Campus High School and c t e stand for a Career Technical education Pathways and here we have eight programs that are in line with our CTE 1st is our Allied Health which is the study has an umbrella actually of courses towards introduction to the healthcare profession and careers among those a medical terminology Tamia physiology and Dynamics is ho here we have Mr wambugu who is our lead instructor for Allied Health next we have our architectural and drafting Pathways where Mr Hammond mr. Henry are a leader structures and this is the study of architectural design foundations and drawings construction and techniques codes and regulating building design next we have a cosmetology which is the study of the Art and Science of beautifying the skin hair and nails and I'll pause and I laugh when you think about the hair that I don't have any however cosmetology judge include skincare cosmetics makeup application cutting style and coloring and we see how this industry is a very productive and lucrative the many and our community we have our law enforcement okay which is the study of the criminal justice system and agencies responsible for enforcing the law and maintaining public order and Public Safety in this climate that we've experienced this year see now more than ever the need for social justice within the criminal justice system and this it Law Academy this Law Enforcement Academy affords our students an opportunity to be a part of the solution to some of the it was that impact our society next our business management program which is the study of organizing people to accomplish the desired goals and objectives of business is we think about everything around us AC business we see that economics and that Enterprise and here we have Mr Baltimore who's leading the business management Academy next we have Finance which is the study of money management banking Investments and assets and liabilities that make up a company's financial statement this is more critical than ever before the ability of our students to understand financing the impact that it plays in Community next we have our marketing which is the study of the four Ps of marketing price product place and promotion and we all see the promotion whether we are looking at advertisements on iPhone advertisements when we watching movies and even went on social media we see those promotion this course and this Academy will help you realize how the market next and witches phenomenal is the Supply Chain management this is the study of the management of flow of goods and services and includes all the process that transforms raw materials final product we saw this very evident at the beginning stages of covid-19 where food was in Supply however we saw disruption in that chain so although there was food available it was not able to get to its proper destination so this Supply change management is an academy that we strongly recommend that we had mr. Thomas who was oddly facilitator here and then fine hear campus we do have our Jaguar Den or school store which allows for all of our Scholars to demonstrate and action everything that they've learned and any other courses that I described above again I'm mr. Worley welcome to East Orange Campus High School we look forward to partnering with you being part of our Career Technical education program. Campus thank you that was absolutely wonderful it's too early I don't know if you wanted Tuesday anything else parents will be giving students in grade eight and opportunity to select if they would like to enroll in one of our CTE courses so that they can start at the beginning and go ways through the end students can apply for one or more schools it is up to your child counselors will be reaching out to the students in grades 5 and 9 to assist them with a filling the application some of the schools when we visiting some of our other students in other schools to go over the process with them and we'll be sharing with you what it is that students have to do to audition for the performing arts school Houston and Tyson and what they have to do for the application process for schools like stem so some of them will be giving you information as we go along but again this information will also be on each School's website most of the applications will be done online so the whole process will roll out between tomorrow and next week you'll be able to have all of that information and the applications are not do until after the holiday so it's about the second weekend January so you have enough time to sit and talk to your children about if they want to apply to one or more school once you apply and you're accepted to one school you'll get the acceptance letter you can decide if you want to go there or if you want to go to the other school depending on how many letters you get so our Nick school that's going to give us some information about their particular Pro will be Tyson Middle High and the principal mr. The Harvest all my colleague and definite last but not least my East Orange Community I'm going to show you a brief video cuz a lot of people a lot of students a lot of parents will say white icing so I'm going to show you a brief video to answer some of these questions why would you choose Tyson we can't even start today spell straight knowing your boots and where you come from is also key keep that with always and always being mean graceful even when you fall that's a sweet Justice and knowing that the URI was designed you and you alone okay so hopefully that answered a lot of the questions why Tyson but all of that can't go on without to really really Dynamic assistant principals who helped make this and now miss Samena pool is going to share with you the entire application process and how you go about signing up and auditioning so I'm going to share my screen Edition flyer and Miss Poole take it away good evening East Orange Community so Tyson's audition audition application will be paperless and it's a Google form the application opens tomorrow December 10th and it closes on January 21st for parents who need access or assistance you can visit us at the school on January 15th between 9 and 12 or on January between 4:30 and 7 p.m. to get assistance with the application you can always call the school and someone can walk you through I'm question if you need that the application is available to Waze by quicker the link or by using the Q are at the top of the screen and again our applications are a Google form and they are digital-only and so miss the English is going to click on the application so we can give you a peek at what it looks like so here's the application all of the questions are mandatory for you to move on please make sure you include your student ID your current address please make sure you include your current School in addition to that please make sure that your personal information is correct because once you complete the application your email address on hopefully you use your parents email address you will receive confirmation as well has your audition date and time so please make sure you complete all of the information in its entirety and last week you are only allowed to apply for one performing art okay so make sure you understand by looking at our schools website which performing art you want to perform try out for as well as what the requirements are for those performing and Fine Art all of that information can be found on the school website but again if you have any questions you can give us a call at the school if you want to grab a pin I'll give you 5 seconds or your phone the phone number to contact us either myself Miss pool or Miss Cleo and who runs the audition process with me the number is 973-414-8600 we cannot wait to see all of our fifth and eighth grade applique thank you okay thank you miss school just to piggyback on a couple of questions if your child is in the 5th grade at Tyson Elementary School they must have Dish in there is not enough water I will go to Tyson's for grade 6 so if your child is currently in them and grade eight or jointly and Tyson for grade 8 you will not automatically be promoted to those same schools for great those students must position all over again as well and as I expressed to you I am one of the assistant superintendent in the district and one of my department is the special ed Department of course our special ed students Supply in addition to any of the schools so this is open to everyone the requirement for additional being on the application that will be released tomorrow so everyone has an opportunity to apply to the schools at this time let's turn it over to stem and Doctor Stallings who is the principal there good evening mr. help prepare our students for college and careers the first is our partnership with Montclair State University through our partnership with the Visual and Performing Arts departments at MSU our students are able to visit the campus and take me sir classes run by MSU students and professors we attend performances and get this box of his students at MSU about the rigors of their major in college life several times your students and professors also visiting hours and work directly for our students the second initiative is our college and careers in the Arts Workshop and this year our panelists included three artists were currently on Broadway as well as Rockaway veteran Anthony Chisholm the panel also included a professional dancer Jazz saxophonist vocalist music industry professionals and a visual artist the visual arts and the students actually completed a portrait of Whitney Houston during the worst chat these are only some of the brand new exciting initiative that marching band at the high school and that gives them an experience with their instrument that you know if you'll grow up in New Orleans how you tend to be up at 4 what time zone do you know we we involve the entire community of East Orange and they're out there performing in day it's I mean it's a great experience for the students and we're proud of them are application is also online oh and I can still go out tomorrow at some of the requirements a similar you do have to audition for us and for Tyson and then then after you get a jumper houses you would do send you a letter if you are accepted how to harvest a ten-year-old 5th graders are not mad at me all the Whitney Houston every fifth grade in the city has the same opportunity to come to Whitney Houston in the Academy of the reply okay thank you so much that's why we have had some amazing presentation parents just to let you know Houston only has space for 50 students they only have two on each grade level so you can only coming to Houston on the Middle School level 2 audition and that's the sixth grade choose classes each and they only have 50 students in the school for stem and Tyson they have grades 6 through 12 they only have 115 slots for grade 6 and 9 for each one of the school you have to audition for each of those Grade Campus High School in South comprehensive a comprehensive High School what you have to do is to get the CTE program that you want to be and will be rolling out that with all of our 8th grade students on how you select the CPE program and Truth is a other comprehensive School which is great 6 so our students to go to truth once they finish with sixth grade we're introducing cjd in the Middle School level as well so after they complete sixth grade and get to select the CTE program that they will attend or they want to be a part of four grade 7th and 8th and that's how we split them all into the other to school so there's a lot for you to think about you can audition and apply for one school have to be finish them presentation English I did not know the answer to one of the questions I parent want to know can you or dishin for more than one of the Arts I'm not sure about Santoro will give you a little more information about the application process so we're ready to go foot doctors in Tombstone what dimension is to learn locally developing one student at a time some Academy and Devastation in the areas of science technology engineering and math students of four basic types of money that require increased design on from selfish name is Melissa Jones on the Middle School STEM Academy Academy we have engaged teachers at a wonderful learning environment he writes that we will participate in College and Career Readiness programs that will prepare us for our future family and community hello my name is Jamie Robinson I am cross 2017 alma mater I am very fine arts and design student in the University of East London and lock the creative director so you'll go back STEM Academy has helped shape who I am today still be able to confidently compete in college Riverside Drive innovation in a global society and college credit that way is a series of courses that focus on the application of and the use of Technology math and scientific ideas throughout the entire Engineering Process students are exposed to settle engineering Fields such as aerospace engineering material design mechanical engineering civil engineering and architecture the human computer interaction pathway is an interdisciplinary one that focuses on the understanding and development of interactions between people and machine design elements that impact usable and functionality of various technology and software for specific individual or group science health and Medicine pathway exposed to students The Cutting Edge technology in the health care and research fields the Allied Health Branch include the partnership with Rutgers University School of health related professions in a clinical internship the corporate and mathematical Innovation pathway exposes students to the fundamental concepts in mathematics that are critical skill is driving innovation hi my name is Sage McPhatter Davis I'm a senior here at some Academy and high school student council call the parents does not start your senior year every decision of your life up to the day you commit to your school as a part of that process your stomach out of me you'll find the curriculum stuff and support to help you achieve your college and career goals yes in Italian I'd like to begin asking a question on behalf of a student named Kristen McKenzie and she asked who is your biggest inspiration because I've done a lot of things but my mother is probably biggest inspiration she gave me my Rocket Fuel and responsible for putting me on that much this is what we do we prepare for the future careers I'm a sophomore STEM Academy and I hope to be a filmmaker and still a family for that field electric back in with us my name is Angel Cyrus and I'm a senior at Georgetown University but not so long ago I just like you was a student at East Orange STEM Academy and I must say that I am prepared me for Georgetown teachers everyone that helped get me to get me some Academy I was interested play spoken by STEM and now I plan on major in civil engineering right at the college or you want alright thank you miss you in pain want you have about one minute and 30 seconds on mr. Andrews yeah good evening link will go out tomorrow on the schools in the district website we try to streamline what you have to do parents as far as your actual leg work in applying so fill out the information completely and you will have to upload a video submission with your child talking about certain aspects of why they want to come to I will reach out to your sending school counselor there and we'll get the information required as far as recommendations and data goes academic data in at that point you'll be schedule to take an entrance exam at the school and also have a short interview with our school staff with a committee and all that information will be scored a compiled into a rubric and decisions will be made on that and send the acceptance letters out according to the district, I knew it thank you mister Andrews do you want to bring greetings at the newest assistant principal there to school in East Orange stem grateful to all of the got these. Show me love throughout the district appreciative of his opportunity to learn and grow myself thank you record it and tomorrow it will be the length so that you can view it with your child will be up when the district website so by tomorrow afternoon go to the district website and you can review this again and have the conversation with your child about what's going on I also will be Miss if I did not let the parents who have students that are in Banneker and Oliver know that Banner Oliver will be a pre-k through eight school so if your child is there in 5th grade at Fannin for Oliver it will automatically roll over to 6th grade so if you do not apply to go to one of these School you will stay exactly where you are all the way through 8th grade so some parents want to they may want to know that unfortunately parents we will not have fun but soon was the courtesy that East Orange was able to offer but due to the pandemic it is not something that we can continue to do because it's the state that reimburse you if you must do this on a courtesy so therefore any student who lives two miles away from the school we do give them a bus pass so they just come to the office of student support services and we know that you live two miles away you get a bus pass and your school if you see your school principal they have discount tickets for New Jersey Transit so if there's a need to take public transportation that will offer us a discount for so I would like to thank our amazing administrators for their presentation I mean parents you have a hard job you know but the one good thing about it you can have your child if they want to apply more than one school it's getting the kids ready for college so there's a day and you'll get at the deadline cuz will post that as well there's the day when you'll get your acceptance letter and just like college you make it 1 to 3 and then be up to you to decide what school you going to once you decide we cannot have you change your mind and decide you going to do something else because remember it's number is driven and we can go over the numbers that we have at that it looks like the time and again we'll be rolling out the CTE to all of her 8th grade students so we realize there may be some students who don't want to audition for something but they really want to go into the sea g e program goal is to get you out of Campus High ready to get a job if that's what you want to do and you can do that with the CTE program so they'll have an opportunity to select which DTE open I haven't they 12 so with that if there are no other question this will conclude our presentation you have a hard job but whatever School you select for your child you better believe they're going to get the best education possible so I thank you for taking the time out of your schedule to join us and I thank you I will mazing administrators for your wonderful wonderful presentation good night everyone and have great night good night
