World Languages

Vision

To create an environment that fosters learning, cultural awareness, and civic-mindedness for all students in East Orange School District.

Mission

The EOSD’s World Languages Department seeks to support its students by engaging and collaborating with all stakeholders to eliminate barriers to learning. Through communication and cooperation, we will provide the necessary resources to ensure that teachers are equipped to create an environment that fosters learning, cultural awareness, and civic-mindedness for all students in East Orange School District.

EOSD World Languages Program

The goal of the World Languages K–12 program in EOSD is to promote and support the teaching and learning of one or more languages and cultures, in addition to the English language. Our French and Spanish programs seek to develop an appreciation, foster tolerance, and understanding of other cultures, and encourage lifelong interest and love for world languages and cultures.

Advanced Placement courses are available for students seeking to enhance their understanding of the languages offered. Students who successfully demonstrate proficiency in English and a second language will receive the New Jersey Seal of Biliteracy upon graduation.
